With New Eyes

Sorry we have not posted in a while, but to get everyone into the Christmas spirit the song we are going to post is Oh Holy Night. Many times, I think, people take Christmas songs for granted, or they just listen to the tune. We encourage the readers of the blog to read the lyrics, and think about the amazing meaning behind these words.
O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night, O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trial born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!

This is a very well known song. Have you ever thought about why it is a called O Holy Night? It is called this because Jesus was born, and it is holy! We can sing and rejoice because Jesus became a man so that he could die for the world. We encourage you remember this, especially during the wonderful holiday of Christmas. Feel free to comment!
Merry Christmas!

Give God Everything

The new Risen CD, by Sovereign Grace, has many good lyrics and he tunes are enjoyable to listen to. Many of the songs are my new favourites, but the one I think I like the best is called “Behold Our God”.

Verse 1
Who has held the oceans in His hands?
Who has numbered every grain of sand?
Kings and nations tremble at His voice
All creation rises to rejoice

Chorus
Behold our God seated on His throne
Come, let us adore Him
Behold our King—nothing can compare
Come, let us adore Him

Verse 2
Who has given counsel to the Lord?
Who can question any of His words?
Who can teach the One who knows all things?
Who can fathom all His wondrous deeds?

Verse 3
Who has felt the nails upon His hands?
Bearing all the guilt of sinful man
God eternal, humbled to the grave
Jesus, Saviour, risen now to reign

Bridge
You will reign forever
Let Your glory fill the earth

We should adore God because he deserves everything that we have to give to him. He sent his only son to die on the cross for us. A dangerous thing that many Christians encounter, especially if they are born into a Christian home, is that we here the gospel so much that we get bored of it. We should always take the tie to thank him for his sacrifice and love him with our WHOLE lives.

One of my all time favourite songs. The Revelation Song by Phillips Craig and Dean.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsiDukXIeVY

Worthy is the,
Lamb who was slain
Holy, Holy, is He
Sing a new song, to Him who sits on
Heaven's Mercy Seat

Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come
With all creation I sing:
Praise to the King of Kings!
You are my everything,
And I will adore You
Yeah!

Clothed in rainbows, of living color
Flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor, strength and
Glory and power be
To You the Only Wise King,
Yeah

Filled with wonder,
Awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your Name
Jesus, Your Name is Power
Breath, and Living Water
Such a marvelous mystery
Yeah...

Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come,
With all creation I sing:
Praise to the King of Kings!
You are my everything,
And I will adore you

Evangelism?

Is it important to evangelize? Yes. But why? Partly because we are commanded to, but I think the biggest reason is that we should want to lead the lost to Christ. We should be extremely heartbroken when people are unsaved. The song I am going to recommend is about evangelism, called "Tears of the Saints" by Leeland.

What if His People Prayed

"What if His People Prayed" is my all time favortite Casting Crowns song. It is a great reminder of the power of prayer, and it chalenges us to humble ourselfs and turn to God in our time of need instead of turning to the world for help.

Thirty years ago, when you wanted to listen to music, you put your record on and sat down and actually listened to it. Now we have portable devices that allow us to listen to music wherever and whenever we want. It is everywhere, in the malls, restaurants, and even sometimes on the streets. Music is a huge part of our culture today. It such a huge part, that we barely even notice it anymore. We don't pay attention to it. We don't listen to what the artists are actually saying. We are being subconscioulsy influenced by it. As Christians, this isn't what God had in mind for us. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and accceptable and perfect.” This is essentially what we want for this blog. We want to take the music we are surrounded by and test it and discern whether or not it is glorifying to God. As Chrisitians, we often tend to give some areas of our lives over to him, while keeping others for ourselves. Music seems to be one of the areas most people feel, doesn't really have a lot to do with Him. We listen to things that are pointless, confusing, or completely against what we are taught in the word of God. Little do we know the effect it has on our lives. So, this is our goal, to make it easier for you to find and listen to songs that are not only great musically, but that will hopefully edify you and turn your eyes to the Gospel.

My first song here is a song your probably all now and one of my all time favourites. Come Thou Fount redone by Sufjan Stevens. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07htIT4-YZ0

Hi everyone! I am the middle of the three sisters writing for the first time today. I have never done a blog before so we will see how this turns out. The purpose of this blog as my little sister already mentioned is to give you ideas on uplifting songs with catchy tunes to listen to. But why is it important to listen to good music? I mean does it really even matter? There is a quote by a Scottish politician Andrew Fletcher that says "Give me the making of the songs of a nation, and I care not who makes the laws." Music has a great but subtle influence over our lives. If we are listening to truth it will affect us just as listening to lies will affect us. I can tell you that the lies in certain songs really affect me. A while ago I was listening to a lot of songs about being beautiful just the way you are and that you don't have to change anything because you are perfect. The problem with this thinking is that we are not perfect; only Jesus is perfect and that our physical appearance is not matters most and it is our hearts that God looks at. A while ago my parents challenged me in this area and encouraged me to pick songs that were uplifting and meaningful. I also believe that good music can affect us just as powerfully as bad music, and I think that listening to good music helps us to enjoy life. In Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 it says "I perceive that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as the live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in his toil-this is God's gift to man." God wants us to enjoy life and I think that for a lot of people listening to good music can help them to do just that. But as most things that are worth while it does take effort to find songs with good lyrics and good music. Even some of the Christian music out there does not have truth in their lyrics. So the purpose of this blog is to make finding good songs a little easier for you. So for all the people that like rap, here is an artist that has wonderful lyrics and great tunes. Please give a big round of applause for Lecrae and my favourite song by him "Don't Waste Your Life".

Rap!

A good artist to look into is Lecrae. His style is rap but his words are outstanding and his music is great to listen to. One of my favorite songs of his is called identity.

Philippians 4:8

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

To Start Off

Hey everyone!

I am proud to be the youngest girl in a family of three girls both beautiful and godly young women. This blog is to help other Christians listen to music with good lyrics and catchy tunes and to let non-Christians hear the truth of the gospel. I hope that this will be encouraging to those of you who are going through hard times or just struggling with finding uplifting music that is something you would enjoy listening. The first song I am going to recommend is for country fans it is called New Again by Brad Paisley. It is a wonderful song about Jesus dying on the cross and changing making our lives new again. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gj-3gQdBpxM
